I started teaching my teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher at Amherst Independent School district in Amherst, Texas.
I married my husband and high school sweetheart, John Shields, in 1997. We have lived in Canadian for 20 years and I have taught for Canadian Independent School district for 20 years as of the 2019-2020 school year. We have been blessed with two daughters, Maddie 21, and Kaitlin 18. They will both be college students this year. Maddie a Senior in and Kaitlin a Freshman in college.
As far as pets...let me just get started here……..I have a dachshund named Peanut that I have had a very long time. I also have a cat named Benson that belongs to my daughter, Madddie. I get to keep Benson with me for now since Maddie can’t have pets at school. Kaitlin just rescued a wonderful little black and white kitten and we have named him Domino. Oh, I can’t forget my two leopard geckos, Greggory and Gwendolyn. My family is amazing and so are my pets!
I am looking forward to an AMAZING year! Working together we will have an AwEsOmE year! I can’t wait to meet each of you.

When I am not teaching I am found doing the following: spending time with my husband and girls, I love plants and flowers and they are a passion I have outside of school. I love keeping my birdfeeder full and outside my big picture window in my house as well as the birdbath. I am an avid bird watcher. I absolutely love butterflies and love seeing them all around my flowerbeds.
